I recently upgraded my laptop’s RAM from 4GB to 8GB. If you also want to change the RAM but don’t want to give extra $50-$100 to technician to do it for you, then this is the right place where you will learn how to change it all by yourself.
It is really a pretty easy task. All you have to do is open some screws and do other minor work and your laptop will start working faster than ever before. Before starting I want to inform you that after doing this you will loose warranty on your laptop from “Apple”.
It is very safe task, so don’t take tension and first read whole article and then start your work.
Step 1: Put your MacBook facing backside up.
Step 2: Unscrew all 10 screw on the back cover and put them in a safe place.
Remember that 3 screws will be longer than others. Don’t forget the place from where you removed them because they will not fit in other holes.
Step 3: Remove Back cover.
Step 4: You will see the RAM as shown in the picture below.
Step 5: You have to open the holder in opposite direction so that the RAM can come out. Don’t worry it will not pop out. It will just get a bit inclined as shown in the picture.
Step 6: Once the RAM is loose enough to come out, pull it out gently.
Step 7: Now put the new RAMs in place. Next you need to put the back cover and screws too.
Step 8: That’s all.
In this way you change RAM in you Macbook pro and increase its speed without paying an extra buck to technicians.
PRO TIP: For better performance, use both RAMs of same size. Ex. 2+2/4+4.
